Holidays in Haute Savoie are traditionally based around ski holidays. The official ski season in Haute Savoie begins in mid-December and officially ends on May 8 although ski lifts may open earlier than the start of the season if snow permits.

 

The Haute Savoie region of France is on the Eastern border of the country in the Alps, flanked by Italy and Switzerland. It is home to Europe’s tallest mountain, Mont Blanc, and Chamonix ski resort, which hosted the first Winter Olympics.

 

Haute Savoie boasts 110 ski resorts which cater for every level of skill and budget. There is a wide choice of ski chalets and ski lodges available. Besides Chamonix, other resorts include Annecy, a beautiful town at the tip of Lake Annecy, overlooked by the Annecy Chateau.

Portes du Soleil is the largest ski area in the world, combining 14 interconnected ski resorts, from Lake Geneva to Mont Blanc. Flaine can offer some fantastic snow conditions and sunny days. It is a purpose built ski resort which offers plenty to do for those who don't ski.
