The Auvergne is the volcanic heart of

Allier is known for its
varied landscape which changes from oak forests in the north
east to vineyards of Saint-Pourcinois at its centre. The
Sioule gorges to the south and the Bourbonnaise Mountains to
the south east reach heights of 1287m in the Puy de Montoncel.
